MOVE TO THE FRONT

On this day, the 16th Ohio, having arrived in Alexandria, Louisiana, on the Red River the night before, marched through the town and went into camp three miles away. The specific location of this camp is not known but it is assumed it was west of town and facing the oncoming Confederate army of Gen. Richard Taylor.
