FOLLOWING THE BAYOU

On this day the 16th Ohio began at 5:00am, marching 14 miles further to the northwest, paralleling the course of Bayou Teche on their right. Cpl. Theodore Wolbach refers to the surrounding countryside as a region of unsurpassing loveliness.
