opened on the Enemy who were posted in a strip of woods about 800 yrds in front of us. but their few of their bullets reach us but by the looks of things near their position I think we made a good many rebs bite the dust. an incesent fire was kept up all the forenoon. the regts relieving one another. In the afternoon we charged into the woods driving the rebs to their stronghold on the Bluffs. the roar of muskets and artilery was deafening. the fight was kept up until after dark. we lay in the field to night |
