Hall diary

which is known as Camp Patton. The water was very good, being procured from a stream flowing down the Mountain. Our forces are increased by five regts of Infantry & two Batterys artilery 42nd Ohio 14th, 19th & 22nd Ky & 33rd Ind. the 1st Wisconsin & 7th Michigan Batteries also four siege guns. The first case of small pox in the Regt was in this camp.

28th Made another reconnoisance in force of Cumberland Gap dividing the force and going on two diffrent roads. the 16th taking the left and ascending the mountain and getting within 1/2 mileof the enemys outer works.
" 29th Skirmishing all day. one man got a slight wound
