which is known as Camp Patton. The water was very good, being procured from a stream flowing down the Mountain. Our forces are increased by five regts of Infantry & two Batterys artilery 42nd Ohio 14th, 19th & 22nd Ky & 33rd Ind. the 1st Wisconsin & 7th Michigan Batteries also four siege guns. The first case of small pox in the Regt was in this camp. |

Made another reconnoisance in force of Cumberland Gap dividing the force and going on two diffrent roads. the 16th taking the left and ascending the mountain and getting within 1/2 mileof the enemys outer works. |
