This document, a possession of Major Milton Mills, is a list of military ordnance Mills claims as having been lost at the Battle of Chickasaw Bayou, December 29th, 1862. Although then Captain Mills was captured at that battle, imprisoned for several months and did not return to his regiment until the following June, the government, apparently, aggressively pursued Mills to account for missing government property. The actual date this document was prepared is unknown but would have to be some time after Mills returned to the regiment as its major in June, 1863.
