This military battle map, made for Gen. Peter J. Osterhaus, though somewhat vague, shows the general activity of Osterhaus' 9th Division, including the 16th Ohio, as it attacked Port Gibson on May 1, 1863. The map does not specify the particular regiments, but it is deduced that Osterhaus' 9th Division took the northerly route. Though Carr and Hovey's Divisions are shown on the lower road to the south, it is believed they were with Osterhaus' Division as they advanced on Port Gibson via the northern route. Better maps are being searched for.
